The Iowa Department of Natural Resources denied the second attempt of CAFO owner Ryan Robertson to expand KK Finishers, a 2480-head hog confinement. The proposed 1200-head expansion north of the city of Pleasant Plain would have swelled the confinement to 3680 hogs.
This denial was a big win for Jefferson County. JFAN worked very closely with the Jefferson County Board of Supervisors to review the Master Matrix, and all the supervisors, including former supervisor Steve Burgmeier while still in office, did an outstanding job handling the review.
