For two decades, JFAN has worked to prevent an explosion of factory farms from inundating Jefferson County and threatening its citizens health, property values and quality of life.
Twenty-one years ago, Jefferson County could have succumbed to Big Pork’s industry pressures as they targeted southeast Iowa for development. But unlike our northern neighbors, JFAN developed a formidable presence that helped to deter unfettered factory farm development in Jefferson County. As a result, Jefferson County only

But even further, for the last 15 years, JFAN has harnessed that formidable presence to work collaboratively on state and national levels to advocate for stronger CAFO regulations that protect water quality, state funding of the IIHR water sensors, oppose pesticide immunity, and protect Iowans from the scourges of factory farming. We are a co-founder of and leader in the Iowa Alliance for Responsible Agriculture.
We not only fight the harmful stuff – we also support responsible, respectful and regenerative organic agriculture and traditional independent farming.
