Yes, it’s possible for independent farmers to make a living raising livestock on pasture. This year’s JFAN Annual meeting features three farmers who are doing just that. Raising Livestock Right: Three Farmers on the Hows and Whys of Farming Sustainably will be held virtually on Zoom on Wednesday, November 2 at 7:00 pm.

Will Harris, owner of White Oak Pastures in Georgia; Greg Gunthorp of Gunthorp Farms in Indiana; and Washington County farmer Aaron Sobaski who raises hogs for his own label, Iowa Pride as well as Niman Ranch will talk about the challenges and opportunities of raising livestock as independent, sustainable farmers.

Each farmer will speak briefly, sharing a history of their farm and why they chose to raise livestock independently. They each have compelling stories to share but the majority of the meeting will be focused on a rich panel discussion. You will have opportunities during the meeting to pose questions to our panelists.

We are excited to have this lineup of environmentally responsible farmers for the JFAN Annual Meeting. Watch for more information in the coming weeks.
